My UX work at Thales was a trip - literally! I spearheaded internal testing and research for our UX
Center of Excellence, outlining formal testing processes in collaboration with our Customer Program
and Hardware teams. I also built our centralized design system for use in our out-of-the-box offerings.
Beyond the office confines, I collaborated daily with clients from American Airlines, HNA Group,
Emirates, and so many others to design and build custom experiences to dazzle, comfort, and assist their
customers and crew on each journey. I held design forums with clients across the globe, and in some
cases even had the unique opportunity to conduct user research and testing en-route! Each project
required innovative thinking to create solutions that felt new and unique, even under strict
technological and regulatory constraints - on average, FAA compliance meant our devices were 10-12 years
old compared to passenger technology.
This work afforded me incredible perspective into the vast diversity around the globe, and working
alongside our cultural partners was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life!
My first client at Thales, HNA Group wanted a custom GUI for Hainan Airlines and their 13 domestic subsidiaries. I was the sole designer over this year-long quest, holding multiple design symposiums in Haikou and Hong Kong with HNA Group’s airline division.
Thales’ hardware offerings often lagged 10-12 years behind passenger technology due to regulatory requirements. To compete with this, I pushed to use our tech to its fullest potential in this fun and exploratory AR presentation for an executive competition. This project was done over a 2-day period.
